There is actually no such thing as a failed Accuplacer math test because the test is based on what you know. The test includes elementary algebra, reading comprehension, sentence skills, ESL segments and the written essay portion titled WritePlacer. The arithmetic test measures your skills in performing basic math operations as well as how you solve problems that use basic math concepts.

The kicker is that bombing the little-known Accuplacer is a bigger obstacle to a college diploma than poor scores on the SAT, ACT, or any high-stakes exams required by some states to get a diploma. This means that some students could take the Accuplacer tests four times, including the diagnostic version.
Still other schools allow students to take the test up to three or four times in total within a one-year period, provided they wait at least two weeks between testing attempts.
Personal calculators are not allowed on the math part of the Accuplacer.
