I haven't done much on the 3D side. I do not know about CorelDraw but Illustrator does not open 3d models. It can do perspective drawings, but not actual 3d models. I get the same message as you do. Is there any work around or way it can be saved or exported so I can have a "flattened" version of it? I asked him for a pdf a couple times, but he hasn't responded if he could or not.
We use laser engravers which mainly engraves flat objects and it prefers to only engrave vectors. Note that you may have to mirror it. I'm not sure what orientation you needed.
