The zone specific ores each give one type of essence alongside an equal mix of the gems. Torment and Rebirth are most valuable, so Sinvyr and Phaedrum are generally the two most expensive zone-specific ores. The screenshot below shows the data. Laestrite is a great all purpose ore and will give you everything, but it is incredibly slow. If you just value this based on the essences it is profitable to prefer Elethium over Laestrite if it is selling for less than 10 times the price of laestrite.
Otherwise laestrite is the better option. We can make custom sources for each ore type. We can then either display it in the tooltip, if you plan to just use one or two ore types, or use it in shopping operations. If you can profitably use the materials at a higher value you may consider going higher on the percentage, but at that point you might as well buy materials straight up. A big factor here will be how you can profitably process the materials.
At that point you can essentially just value your ores based on the essences you care about and see if that is profitable. Same here, but you can use the inspector in the browser to see the element. The two ones missing:. When you say you make crafters mark II gear, what do you mean exactly? Are we still talking about JC or are you using them in Blacksmithing for the gear there?
You could also pair Jewelcrafting with Leatherworking to get the same effect. Explore Wikis Community Central. Register Don't have an account? Edit this page. History Talk Categories Jewelcrafting. Currently im going with goblin engineering used to be gnomeish, but i retrained after i got the deathray and jewlcrafting.
Helps loads in pvp. Comment by Thottbot So to prospect we wont need to travel to the location of any of the nodes..? Makes a diff for me. If I needed to prospect AT the node.. I would need to have JC on my more active toon. Comment by Thottbot Was prospecting a few batches of mithril. I don't know exactly how many I did but probably 12 or more.
I had a stack of Mithril ore 10 deep and attempted to prospect. The animation and sound emote happened but no window popped up not even an empty one at the end. Several repeated attempts, juggling the ore around, prospecting other types of ore worked fine , etc I will check again tomorrow. If it changes, i will update this post. Comment by Thottbot How do you get prospecting? I have a Draenei warrior who knows Jewelcrafting and Mining but doesn't have the prospecting skill.
Can anyone tell me how to get it? Comment by Thottbot When your Jewelcrafting skill is high enough, the word "Prospectable" on a type of ore will go from red to white. When you prospect ore, you will get powder of the corresponding ore type ie.
Iron Ore produces Iron Powder. In addition, you will get gems. It may be possible to get 3, but I haven't seen it happen.
You can get 2 different or 2 of the same gem from one stack of 5 ore. The type of gems you get generally correspond with the level of the ore ie. There is also a chance that you'll recieve a gem from a higher or lower tier of ore. Silver, Gold, Truesilver and Dark Iron cannot be prospected. Comment by Thottbot Do you level jewelcrafting from prospecting? Can someone post what kind of gems appear from which type of ore? Replies appreciated ;. Comment by Thottbot these are some of the metals, which seem pretty accurate to me, but you can also prospect objects like fel iron ore and junk like that..
Comment by Thottbot Has anyone found that they tend to get more gems from prospecting, or that they tend to get zero a smaller portion of the time with a higher skill level? It seems when I'm first able to prospect an ore that I get nothing from it a large portion of the time. Comment by Thottbot Can anyone tell me what lvl you can prospect different things? Comment by Thottbot Basics: At level 5 or higher, with a jewelcrafting of 20 or higher, you can learn prospecting from a jewelcrafting trainer, it's in your general tab in the spellbook.
Click on the skill and select a stack of 5 or more standard non-precious ore listed below and you'll attempt to prospect it if your skill is high enough. When you have the prospecting skill, you'll see "Prospecting" on ores, if it's red it means your skill is too low, if it says "Not prospectable" that ore type can't be prospected.
You get gems and 1 "Powder" of the ore type Copper yields copper powder, thorium yields thorium powder, etc.
This powder is vendor trash, except for the adamantite powder, which is used in high level jewelcrafting to make mercurial adamantite, a high level jewelcrafting reagent. The ores: This will be a list of the ore, the skill level required and the gem types you can salvage from it from most to least common.
Comment by Thottbot functions just like Disenchanting things Not to mention you have a chance of mining all the gems you prospect when you mine the nodes. All in all I think it has better functionality then disenchanting.
